Water survey for Tofino residents

The Raincoast Education Society (RES) is surveying Tofino residents as part of the Tofino water stewardship project.

The program is designed at increasing water literacy and promoting water-use efficiency and conservation practices to improve long-term water security and lower overall water consumption.

This year the RES will be supplying communication and educational materials about watershed stewardship in Clayoquot Sound.

The survey assesses prior knowledge about watershed stewardship among local residents.

The RES asks residents, who have not already completed an email survey prior, to fill out the survey at www.surveymonkey. com/s/TofinoWater.

Homeowners and renters are encouraged to answer the survey as individuals, not as business owners. All responses will remain anonymous.

The society will be conducting a free water audit and water monitoring program for ten Tofino residents from 2011 – 2012.

“This program is designed to help residents learn about how to conserve and use water more efficiently, as well as to track potential behavioural changes throughout the year within residences,” states the survey.

“These residences will also be the first to learn of new technologies and tools that might help them conserve water.”
