City unveils water treatment plant

The $65-million plant requires public approval for $22.5-million loan in order to pay for construction. Nanaimoites had their first chance yesterday to talk to city staff and several council members regarding the controversial decision to borrow $22.5 million for a new water treatment plant. The city held a public meeting at Bowen Park Community Centre to provide details about the $65-million project and the alternate approval process that allows residents to voice their opinion about the loan.
