SIS assessing water system needs

The Sustainable Infrastructure Society (SIS) is a non profit society based on the campus of the University of Victoria. The purpose of the SIS is to create and implement programs which provide convenient and affordable access to products and services for community infrastructure organizations. It is located on the campus of the University of Victoria (UVIC) in Victoria, British Columbia.

The SIS now planning a new program which helps Improvement Districts to borrow money to fund improvements such as new treatment facilities. They are also creating industry partnerships which will help water systems to install affordable water treatment.  The existing insurance program has also been expanded to include additional coverage items for community water supply systems.

To help plan these programs effectively the SIS is assessing demand.  A short (three question) email survey has been circulated to water utilities across the province and this will help the society tailor its programs to meet industry needs.  Visit the SIS web site at WaterBC for more information about the services they provide. If your utility did not get a copy of the survey, email Pauline Berkmann at PGBerkmann@waterbc.ca and ask her to send you a copy.
