Keremeos Reservoir Proceeding with Solid Vote

Keremeos Irrigation District is finally moving forward with their long awaited reservoir project.  A capacity crowd of 300 filled Victory Hall on July 24th, 2013 to vote whether the District could borrow 940,000 over 20 years.   There were 286 votes cast, with 235 that said YES and 49 said NO.  There were 2 spoiled ballots.  The District can now proceed with borrowing the necessary funds to finance the project.  There were two previous attempts to gain public assent. The Village of Keremeos is contributing $300,000 towards the project and overall water rates for the community will increase only slightly.
